Trivia
General
- SpongeBob's face was redesigned for some of the re-release versions of the cover.
- The picture of Squidward on the cover is also on the logo for the Persian SpongeBob dub.
- The back cover of this DVD contains pictures from these episodes:
- This DVD includes previews for other Nickelodeon DVDs and VHS tapes. These include older SpongeBob SquarePants DVDs and VHS tapes, The Wild Thornberrys Movie DVD and VHS tape, The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius DVDs and VHS tapes, Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius DVD and VHS tape, and Tak and the Power of Juju video game trailer.
- The previews from this DVD are the same exact previews as All Grown Up!: Growing Up Changes Everything, Nicktoons Halloween, and The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius: Sea of Trouble 2003 DVDs.
- On the main menu of this DVD, it says, "Krabby Patty Search."
- On the Dutch version, it is translated to English as "In Search of Mr. Krab's Hamburgers."
- On PAL releases of this DVD with the English audio track (examples: UK and Australia), the episode "Big Pink Loser" is in the PAL speed and pitch instead of the NTSC pitch the other episodes on this DVD are in.
- The "Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy III" storyboard can also be found on disc 3 of The Complete 2nd Season DVD as a special feature.
- This is the first SpongeBob SquarePants DVD release for six things:
- The first SpongeBob DVD to feature Squidward on the front cover.
- The first SpongeBob DVD to be rated G in Canada.
- The first SpongeBob DVD to be rated 7 in Finland.
- The first SpongeBob DVD to not be a part of Lasten Suosikit brand in Finland. Though the prototype still used it.
- The first SpongeBob DVD to have the Paramount DVD logo opening with a menu option.
- The first SpongeBob DVD to have the instrumental version of the theme song as the main menu music.
- This is also the last SpongeBob DVD release for three things:
- The last SpongeBob DVD to have the orange wavy line and oval Nickelodeon logo on the cover.
- The last SpongeBob DVD until Where's Gary? to use a font other than impact.
- The last SpongeBob DVD to have episodes from two separate VHS releases. All future releases would be released both on VHS and DVD and starting with "Karate Island," there would be no more VHS counterparts since that format was discontinued by most major American companies in 2006.
- At some point in 2007, this DVD, Nautical Nonsense and Sponge Buddies, and The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie were released together in a bundle called Sponge Crazy.
- On this DVD in Spain, it has an exclusive direct-to-video dub of the show which uses the following character names: Patrick Estrella, Squidward Tentaculos, Señor Krabs, and Sandy Mejillas.
- The special features are not included in the international release.
- This DVD was originally going to be released in Finland at March 4, 2012, but was delayed to November 9, 2012 for unknown reasons.
Cultural references
- The title of this DVD is a pun on the children's real-life game hide-and-seek as SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward can be seen playing hide-and-seek on the DVD's cover image.
Errors
- On the front cover, Patrick is missing his left leg. This was fixed only on some of the international covers along with the English VHS tape and VCD covers.
- On the back of this DVD, "Squidville" is misspelled as "Squidsville."
- This also happens on the Sponge-a-Rama and Tide and Seek VHS tapes along with The Complete 2nd Season and Sponge Crazy DVDs.
- The main menu shows clips from "Nature Pants," "Something Smells," "Just One Bite," and "Krab Borg," although these four episodes are not on this DVD. This is most likely due to the fact that their sister episodes are on the DVD.
- However, the latter two episodes had already been released on DVD with Nautical Nonsense and Sponge Buddies and Tales from the Deep respectively, while the former two would not be released on DVD until The Seascape Capers and SpongeBob Goes Prehistoric respectively.
- In all episodes on the Latin American, Brazilian, and European versions, it has all of the title cards skipped.
- The Swedish DVD back cover claims that "Rock Bottom" is included, but this isn't true.
