— Cecil Star, "To Dad and Back"
|
Cecil Star is the husband of Bunny Star and the father of Template:Data:Links and Squidina Star. He is one of the main characters of The Patrick Star Show. He is also the focus of the "Help Not Wanted" episode of Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years and has made brief cameos on SpongeBob SquarePants.
Description
Cecil is sage green in color. He is also half bald, has brown hair, eyebrows, and a mustache. He wears gray pants with a brown belt and a white shirt with a red bowtie. Like the other sea stars in the show, he has dots around his body.
Personality
Cecil is shown to be supportive of his family. He is often just as stupid as his son, giving him strange bits of advice and guidance. He has held a variety of jobs throughout the series, often changing between episodes, it's revealed in Sitcom Stars that he has some bosses: Mr. Rilla and Benjamin B. Nana. Cecil's interests include cooking, fishing, camping, junk, home repairs, and working on the family boat.
He regularly avoids paying his newspaper delivery money to Template:Data:Links. In "Host-a-Palooza," Cecil is shown to be a talented inventor, having made a high-tech fishing rod. "Dad's Stache Stash" shows Cecil's mustache to be incredibly powerful, shapeshifting into different forms and altering him when his family is in trouble.

Relationships
Patrick Star
Patrick and Cecil get along well due to their similarities. In "The Starry Awards," Patrick gives Cecil a mug for Father's Day. He and Patrick sell stuff at the family yard sale together in "The Yard Sale." In "Klopnodian Heritage Festival," the two are paired up for strange Klopnodian rituals. Cecil defends Patrick in front of an audience so that he can have the privacy he needs to pass his test. In "Driven to Drive," Cecil teaches Patrick how to drive, and in "Face/Off-Model," he helps fix Patrick's off-model face.
In "Bummer Jobs," it is revealed that Cecil wants Patrick to move out of the house. In "Terror at 20,000 Leagues," he and Bunny scare their children to steal their Halloween candy.
Squidina Star
While Squidina and Cecil do not have many interactions, they are shown to get along generally well. In "Host-a-Palooza," Squidina lets Cecil be on The Patrick Show! when Patrick is injured. He also helps her learn how to set the table for her home economics class in "Home ECCH!" Cecil takes Patrick and Squidina on a camping trip in "Survivoring." In "Patrick's Got a Zoo Loose," Squidina gives Cecil a compensation check.
Bunny Star
Cecil and Bunny fell in love at the World's Least Exciting Sweater, and are shown to have a positive marriage. They help each other get ready for work in "Bummer Jobs." In "House Hunting" and "A Space Affair to Remember," they team up to help catch up to their runaway house and win the 1000th Annual Weirdest Alien Contest, respectively. In "FitzPatrick," Cecil sits in Bunny's lap during Patrick's wedding. In "Neptune's Ball," they go to watch a piano performance together. "Mid-Season Finale" has the two acting in a Victorian romance story together.
"Tying the Klop-Knot" has the two get remarried after Patrick's time travel trip accidentally invalidates their marriage. In "Tattoo Hullabaloo," Cecil throws himself in front of a laser to save Bunny's tattoo, Skip.
GrandPat Star
As GrandPat's son, Cecil sometimes disagrees with him. He sells GrandPat's stuff without his permission in "The Yard Sale," and calls taking his room after he leaves in "House Hunting." "Host-a-Palooza" has the two getting into an argument that leads into a fishing contest. In "The Starry Awards," GrandPat claims to be more deserving of the mug that Patrick gifts to Cecil. Cecil takes it back, saying that his father is "too old for nice things."
GrandPat and Cecil have gotten along in occasion. They team up against Patrick and Squidina during the stair wars. In "Backpay Payback," GrandPat gives Cecil advice on how to stop Squidward and his grandmother from asking for money. In "The Commode Episode," GrandPat compliments Cecil on his singing, and in "Big Baby Patrick," Cecil serves pizza to GrandPat. In "Who's the Dummy Now?," GrandPat is concerned for Cecil after he fights Bananas Foster.
Squidward Tentacles
Cecil and Squidward's rivalry is a running gag on the show. Cecil refuses to pay Squidward his newspaper money, either taunting him for it or avoiding him altogether. Episodes like "Bummer Jobs," "The Haunting of Star House," "Backpay Payback," "Best Served Cold," and "Pat-per Route" include this as a major plot point. In "Pat-per Route," Squidward finally gets paid by Cecil, with help from Patrick. However, Cecil paid him before in "Bummer Jobs," that time SpongeBob and Patrick collected it for themselves.
