- The "SpongeBob, Football Star!" video storybook is similar to the SpongeBob, Soccer Star! book that was published in 2010.
- This is because in the UK and other countries outside of the US, Canada, Italy, Japan, and Australia, soccer is known as "football." Therefore, the book is also called "SpongeBob, Football Star!" in other countries.
- "Extreme Spots" is the only widescreen episode on this DVD.
- It is also the only season 9 episode on the DVD.
- This is the third sports theme home video release, with the first being Mighty Sporting of You, and the second is Super Spongy Square Games.
