General
- "It's a SpongeBob Christmas!" is the only episode from season 8 to be presented in a widescreen format. However, the episode is actually in full screen 4:3 letterbox with black bars on the top and bottom rather than true widescreen.
- In the French release, the box set's name is "Saison 8 - Non censurée," which translates to "Season 8 - Uncensored."
- That version of the cover is also very different.
- On the DVD description on the backside, the following episodes are referenced:
- "The Other Patty" - "Check out Bikini Bottom's new Flabby Patty restaurant"
- "The Googly Artiste" - "Patrick's art sensations"
- "Plankton's Good Eye" - "Plankton's turn to the nice side"

- The first disc includes previews for other Nickelodeon DVDs and a DreamWorks Animation 2012 film. These include Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Legend of Korra, and Rise of the Guardians.
- "Sandy's Vacation in Ruins" is paired up with the episode "A SquarePants Family Vacation" on iTunes. On this DVD, "Sandy's Vacation in Ruins" is included as a special feature on disc 4.
- This is the first SpongeBob SquarePants season DVD to not have music on any of the menus.
- This is the last SpongeBob SquarePants season DVD release for a few things:
- The last SpongeBob season DVD to show the Paramount DVD logo on the spine of the DVD.
- The last SpongeBob season DVD where each episode segment is a separate chapter. Starting with The Complete Ninth Season, the episode segments are now paired up instead of being separate chapters (with the exception of double-length episodes).
- The last SpongeBob season DVD to have the episode list and descriptions inside of the case until The Complete Eleventh Season released 7 years later on March 31, 2020.
- The last SpongeBob season DVD to have the episodes listed by disc on the back.
- The last season DVD to be released in Region 2.
- On June 7, 2022, this DVD set and the Complete Seventh Season were released together in a bundle called The Seventh & Eighth Seasons.
- The UK and Australian versions have no bonus features.
Errors
- On the back, "Smoothe Jazz at Bikini Bottom" is misspelled as "Smooth Jazz at Bikini Bottom."
- On the inside cover description for the episode "Planet of the Jellyfish," Jellien is misspelled as Jellian.
- On the back, "InSPONGEiac" is misspelled as "InSpongeiac," not capitalizing some of the letters.
- This also happens on The Next 100 Episodes, The Best 200 Episodes Ever, The Seventh & Eighth Seasons, and The Best 300 Episodes Ever DVDs.
- On the disc 3 episode selection screen and on the back of the DVD, "Face Freeze!" is listed as "Face Freeze," missing the exclamation point at the end of the title.
