Lost at Sea is a SpongeBob SquarePants DVD that was released on March 4, 2003 and contains five episodes from season 1, three episodes from season 2, and one episode from season 3. It has the episodes from The Sponge Who Could Fly and Anchors Away VHS tapes.

- "The Sponge Who Could Fly" was released on this DVD 17 days before it aired on American television.
- On some sealed copies of this DVD, there's a sticker that says "Contains an Exclusive Cartoon." "The Sponge Who Could Fly" will not air on TV between March 21, 2003 and June 2003." This same sticker is also used on some sealed copies of The Sponge Who Could Fly VHS tape.
- The spine and back artwork for this DVD seems to share the same color palette from Nautical Nonsense and Sponge Buddies.
- The back cover of this DVD contains pictures from these episodes:
- On the main menu of this DVD, an instrumental loop version of the song "He's Flying" is played.
- This DVD includes previews for other Nickelodeon DVDs and VHS tapes which can only be accessed through the main menu. These include The Wild Thornberrys Movie DVD and VHS tape, The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius DVDs and VHS tapes, and Tak and the Power of Juju video game trailer.
- All of the episodes on this DVD had clips during the "Bikini Bottom's 7 Life Strategies" special.
- The "Bikini Bottom's 7 Life Strategies" special is listed as "SpongeBob's 7 Life Strategies" on the back of this DVD and the special features menu.
- The "Bikini Bottom's 7 Life Strategies" special can also be found on disc 3 of The Complete 1st Season DVD as a special feature.
- This is the first SpongeBob SquarePants DVD to include an audio commentary.
- This is one of two SpongeBob DVDs only to have a shadow under the oval Nickelodeon logo. The other one is Nautical Nonsense and Sponge Buddies.
- There is a PAL VHS tape of the same name with all of the same episodes that was only released in the UK and Australian markets.
- The special features are not included on the international releases of this DVD.
- In some stores in the United States, this DVD is plastic wrapped with Tales from the Deep as a bundle.[3]
Errors
- On the closing credits of this DVD, "The Sponge Who Could Fly" is simply called "Lost Episode," despite it being called "The Sponge Who Could Fly" everywhere else on the DVD.
- This error also happens on the Absorbing Favorites DVD.
- On the back of this DVD, "Plankton!" is listed as "Plankton," missing the exclamation point at the end of the title.
- This error also happens on The Sponge Who Could Fly VHS tape.
- On the episode description of "The Chaperone," it says, "tall, dark and handsome" instead of what Pearl says, "long, tan, and handsome."
- In the episode selection, the image for "Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy II" is not from that episode. The image is actually from "Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy III," which is not on this DVD.
- This error also happens on disc 3 of The Complete 1st Season DVD.
