SpongeBob vs. The Big One is a SpongeBob SquarePants DVD that was released on March 3, 2009 and contains seven episodes from season 6. The DVD title is based on the episode of the same name and three of the episodes on it are beach-related. It was re-released on September 25, 2012.

Get on board for an episode so epic, it's called the big one! SpongeBob and pals have been swept out to sea and they must learn to surf or be stranded on a remote island forever. Only one man can teach this motely crew the skill they need in time for the arrival of the only wave strong enough to carry them all the way back to Bikini Bottom. That man is Jack Kahuna Laguna, played by guest star Johnny Depp. The excitement ‘ll keep you on the edge of your board! Then, SpongeBob and Patrick add adventure to their dull lives by 'Livin' like Larry,' SpongeBob and Patrick find out they can't attend the biggest party on Goo Lagoon because they aren't tan... yet, Squidward's Kelp Grow garden spray makes everything it touches huge, Patrick returns from the surgeon with a nose and experiences the smell of stink, SpongeBob and Patrick go on the case when the Krabby Patty secret ingredient goes missing, and Plankton has his first regular customer, but Mr. Krabs wants him at the Krusty Krab!

- "SpongeBob SquarePants vs. The Big One" was released on this DVD one month before premiering on American television on April 17, 2009.
- This DVD was also released as part of a gift set called the SpongeBob Square Box Gift Set, which also included the game SpongeBob Obstacle Odyssey 2: Time Trouble and a tin SpongeBob lunch box. This was the only release of SpongeBob Obstacle Odyssey 2: Time Trouble in stores, and the only other CD release of the game was available through Shockwave.com (it is no longer available, as all of the Nickelodeon games have been removed from Shockwave.com).
- The back cover of this DVD contains pictures from these episodes:

- This is the first SpongeBob SquarePants DVD to not come with an insert.
- This DVD was nominated at the 37th Annie Awards for Best Home Entertainment Production.[4]

- The title character's name is also in blue letters instead of green letters on some of the international covers.
- This DVD includes previews for other Nickelodeon DVDs. These include Back at the Barnyard: When No One's Looking DVD, older SpongeBob DVDs, and Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Complete Book 3 Collection DVD.
- On the main menu of the DVD, a short loop of the soundtrack "Return of the Surfin' Headhunters" is played.
- The Amazon description respectively references "SpongeBob SquarePants vs. The Big One," "A Life in a Day," "No Nose Knows," and "Plankton's Regular," while the iTunes description references every episode on the USA release.
- On April 6, 2009 in the UK, this DVD and The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie were released together in a bundle called Limited Edition 2 DVD Box Set.
- This DVD was re-released on September 25, 2012 along with The Seascape Capers, Friend or Foe?, SpongeBob's Atlantis SquarePantis, and SpongeBob's Pest of the West as part of The SpongeBob Super Square Collection.
- The Super Square Collection version of this DVD includes a bonus poster which is just a big version of the cover.
- Of those 4 DVDs, this is the only one with season 6 episodes.
- Jack Kahuna Laguna is only seen on the 2012 reissue cover.
- The Greek version is the only one which does not have a sign behind the title of the cover except for the reissue ones. The sign in the Greek cover is used for the caption below.
- It is also the only one to have season 3 episodes, instead of the other season 6 episodes. Those are:

Errors
- In the Turkish cover, there is a misspelling. It writes "SüngerBob ve ve Büyük Dalga" and there are two 've's. However, there should have been an "and."
- On the back of the 2012 re-release and its bilingual version, "Patty Caper" is listed as "The Patty Caper," adding the word "The" to the title. This was the episode's original title.[5]
