Trivia

General

  • The PC version of this game has several similarities to Employee of the Month and the PC version of The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie video game, as they are all point-and-click titles.
  • The PC version was the 5th licensed SpongeBob video game to developed by AWE Games. Following Operation Krabby Patty, Employee of the Month, and the PC versions of Battle for Bikini Bottom and The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie.
  • The plot of this version has some similarities to "Mermaid Man & Barnacle Boy VI: The Motion Picture."
  • In this version, when SpongeBob has to catch Man-Ray, he is unable to catch him. When that happens, he says, "He's so amazing! I must do something to stop him and convince him to be in the show. Let's see... in episode 17 of Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy... Aha! They used the tickle belt on him!" This is a reference to the season 2 episode "Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy III," in which when SpongeBob talks about the tickle belt, he says that it is from episode 17.
  • The game heavily relies on pre-existing assets, and does not have a lot of original assets as a result.
    • Almost every single NPC model is taken from the PC version of the Movie game, with some being tweaked or recolored.
    • Every single explorable background (the only exception being Gill's office) is either identical to or a slightly tweaked version of a background from the show's art assets.
    • Some of the art assets were originally created for the show and did not make it in, but did get used in the game. An unused beach background for "Bubble Buddy" appears in the cutscene upon completion of the minigame De-fence. Two unused backgrounds from "Squidville" are reused (albeit slightly altered) to create the Tentacle Acres Cocoa Shop in Tentacle Acres.
    • Other backgrounds can be assumed to be unused from the show as well, although these have not yet resurfaced. These include a background with a dinosaur skeleton, presumably taken from "Ugh", a different angle from the trash can in the park from Squidville, the bottom of the ropes from Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy III, a panning shot of the Chum Bucket with a security camera, presumably from "Welcome to the Chum Bucket", the back of the Krusty Krab with a dumpster, which would go on to later appear in "Shell of a Man", and an alternate shot of The Dump.
    • Barg'N-Mart's loading screen art and its ingame equivalent are reused from Employee of the Month. The interior of the Krusty Krab is reused from the Movie game, which leads to quite a confusing layout, as SpongeBob cannot enter the kitchen from the main restaurant. Instead, he needs to go through Mr. Krabs' office, at which point he can use the door that would usually go to the main restaurant floor (even showing the floor), but it instead leads outside through the back door.
    • Almost all of the game's music tracks are reused from previous AWE titles, dating back as far as their first release, Operation Krabby Patty. Besides royalty free tracks that weren't used in the past entries, the Fry Cook Museum is the only location that gets a new track.
    • In the intro cutscene for the minigame De-Fence, SpongeBob states "This place oozes evil!" This quote is reused from the Movie game, where he says it when looking at a skull in the trench.
  • SpongeBob is the starting actor, who plays Man Ray, Dirty Bubble, the Biologist, the Chef, Mermaidman, the Sneaky Hermit, the Bicycle Cop, or the Head Nurse.
  • Patrick is an unlocked actor, who plays Barnacleboy or the Sneaky Hermit.
  • Dirty Bubble, Squidward, Mermaidman, Barnacleboy, and Plankton and Robo SpongeBob are the automatic actors, but the old lady is the automatic actress.
  • It's a Drag won't be played until Man Ray is asked manually to be in the show. Otherwise, he'll get away.
  • Shady Shoals is the starting location.
  • All the props for scene 1 will be unlocked after playing King Me.
  • The first two props for scene 2 will be unlocked after playing Dirty Bubble Trouble.
  • The first two props for scene 3 will be unlocked after playing Mart Madness.
  • The first two props for scene 4 will be unlocked after playing De-Fence.
  • A prop for scene 5 will be unlocked after playing Jellyfish Roundup.
  • All the props for scene 6 will be unlocked after playing It's a Drag, and so will the Krusty Krab, Chum Bucket, Jellyfish Convention Center, and Mrs. Puff's Boating School.
  • The first two props for scene 7 will be unlocked after playing Freezem.
  • Sandy's Treedome will be unlocked after looking at the note to Tentacle Acres.
  • Tentacle Acres will be unlocked after looking through Sandy's telescope.
  • The Reefside Movie Theatre will be unlocked after talking to the guard.
  • The Kelp Forest will be unlocked after talking to Plankton.
  • The Fry Cook Museum will be unlocked after talking to Mr. Krabs' doctor.
  • Barg-N-Mart will be unlocked after talking to Squidward.
  • When you pop 20 bubbles in Dirty Bubble Trouble, catch 30 peepers in De-Fence, help 20 customers in Mart Madness, and capture 20 ghost pirates in Freezem, these will cause the games to be played forever, but missing five bubbles, wasting five units of food, and getting hit 20 times in Jellyfish Roundup and 31 times in Freezem will cause them to end.
  • There are a few correct answers in the Fry Cook quiz:
    • Um, yeah...I already told you that!
    • The Krusty Krab of course.
    • My boss is Mr. Eugene Krabs...The Most generous crustacean in all of Bikini Bottom.
    • The Krabby Patty! Nothing can rival the delicious might of this amazing fast food delicacy!
    • Easy...Bottom Bun, Patty, Ketchup, Mustard, Pickles, Onions, Lettuce, Cheese, Tomato, Top Bun...in that order!
  • The number to call Tentacle Acres is 456-555-9876.
