This game is part of the SpongeBob 25 campaign, along with being the first video game of the franchise to be based around Patrick Star.
Description
"Patrick fans, your time has come—and Bikini Bottom is your open-world playground! You can skydive with just a parasol (or nothing at all), search for buried treasure in the Dump, or release the rage in Mrs. Puff's Rage Room. Use almost any item you find—from the reef blower to a paint can—to make the world more Patrick. And take on challenges only Patrick would attempt, set by up SpongeBob, Sandy Cheeks, Mr. Krabs, and more.

Gameplay
The Patrick Star Game is a third-person physics-based sandbox game starring Patrick Star where the player is able to pick up almost anything and interact with almost everything in the world of Bikini Bottom as they can pick up hammers, bash through buildings, leaf blowers loaded with fruits to fire at targets, and giant magnets to swing heavy objects around! The player can also complete tasks to earn sand dollars and unlock costumes. There are also minigames that the player can play such as the Krabby Patio.
Quests
There are several quests that the player can complete in the game. Each quest would give the player sand dollars.
Minigames
Sunbathing
In Conch Street, Downtown Bikini Bottom, and Jellyfish Fields, Squidward has a quest to clear his sunbathing spots because he can't sunbathe with everyone around him. Doing it would award sand dollars.
Coconut Chaos
SpongeBob would require the player to shoot coconuts at the yellow crates for sand dollars.
Boatmobile Safety Courses
Mrs. Puff would require Patrick to drive around the game's racing tracks for sand dollars.
Squirrel Appreciation Day
Sandy would require Patrick to clean up many landmarks such as Bikini Bottom Fire Department in Bikini Bottom after her latest experiment blew up and sprayed jelly all over Bikini Bottom. Sand dollars would be given for each landmark being cleaned.
Krabby Cook-Off
Mr. Krabs would require Patrick to cook Monster Krabby Patties at his new Krabby Patio outside of the Krusty Krab for the customers to earn sand dollars as a paycheck.
Chum is Fum!
Plankton would require Patrick to cook chum at his outdoor restaurant outside of the Chum Bucket for the customers to earn sand dollars as a paycheck.
Missions
Sunday in the Park with Gary
Patrick would have a chat with Gary at the Downtown Bikini Bottom park and play on the playground with Gary.
Flyin' High Skydive
Sandy would require Patrick to go on an airplane named Bessie to skydive and catch the rings.
There are three different versions, being Parasol Parasailing, Parachutin' and Tootin', and Glidin' Away.
Glove World Grab
SpongeBob placed many golden gloves for Patrick to find at Glove World!. Collecting them all would reward sand dollars for Patrick.
The Artist Within
At Bikini Bottom University, Squidward would require Patrick to do three categories there, which are art, dance, and sculpture.
Treasonous Treasure
Plankton would require Patrick to find treasure at The Dump and bring them to him.
Royal Roundup
King Jellyfish would require Patrick to find all of his babies and bring them back to him.
Rage Room
Mrs. Puff would require Patrick to do courses at the Demolition Derby for sand dollars as prizes.
There are three different versions, being Hammer Smash Alley, Glass Shatter Party, and Cage Rage.
The Fry Cook Games
Plankton would make Patrick defend the honor for the Chum Bucket again as Patrick would participate in the Fry Cook Games at the Fast Food Coliseum.
The first challenge that Patrick would do is the French Fry Javelin, the second one is Order Up!, and the third and final challenge being Wumbo Soda Jerk.
After doing all of the challenges, Patrick would go on the dance stage while the end credits for the game play.

Reception
Sarah Thwaities of IGN gave the game a 5/10, saying that "SpongeBob SquarePants: The Patrick Star Game is a simple, physics-based adventure that lacks the heart to make a splash."[10] On review aggregator Metacritic, the game has received "mixed or average reviews" on all platforms.[11]

General
- The video game's existence and box art was first confirmed after being leaked through the Slovenian retailer, "igabiba," on July 31, 2024. All listings of the game on igabiba were taken down one day later on August 1, 2024.[12]
- This marks the third Nickelodeon video game in which the main protagonist doesn't play a major role, the first two were Rugrats: Totally Angelica and Avatar: The Last Airbender – The Path of Zuko.
- This game was released on Bill Fagerbakke's 67th birthday, Patrick's voice actor.
- The narrator heard in multiple trailers is a Text-To-Speech AI synthesized voice, called "Jessie" which was created by ElevenLabs.[13]
- The lighthouse in Downtown Bikini Bottom has a different design in the game rather than in the series with the top of it mainly being different.
- This is the first console SpongeBob game since SpongeBob HeroPants to have been made in the Unity game engine.
- The gameplay for the game is similar to the Goat Simulator video games.
- There are two versions of the main menu, with one having a stock image of Patrick being happy and the other one using the head of the game's render of Patrick.
Episode references
- On the back covers of the game on all versions, it says, "This is Patrick." This is a reference to when Patrick is answering the phone in "Big Pink Loser."
- The opening scene of the game as well as when Patrick sleeps references Patrick's dream scene from "Sleepy Time" where Patrick rides a kiddy ride with a quarter.
