Development
General
- A bunch of unused graphics ripped from multiple episodes can be found within the game's files.
- There's an unused 2D minigame called "Pattie Munchdown" where, according to the graphics, would've starred SpongeBob, Squidward, Sandy and Plankton eating as many patties as possible while avoiding to get sick.
- The Bouncers game mode has graphics of customers eating their food while watching in the background.
- Floor It! is where the unused episode rips are the majority, mainly construction workers.
- Few more episode rips include SpongeBob holding a spatula, from "Plankton!," and Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy's fists.
- An early model of SpongeBob can be found in the files.
- Bubble Bass has an unused eye set.
- A work-in-progress version of the map screen can be found in the files alongside a work-in-progress sprite sheet of Kevin the Cucumber.
- There is an unused clapperboard texture.[2]

Reception
Lights, Camera, Pants! received a nomination at the 33rd Annie Awards in 2005 for Best Animated Video Game, but it lost to Ultimate Spider-Man.[3]
IGN gave the home console version a generally good review. They gave it 8.5 points on its presentation, saying, "Makes excellent use of the license. Great, humorous cinemas and a fun storyline. A decent selection of mini-games. Slick menus. Some minor load times." They gave 7+ points to the graphics of the game, the sound, and the gameplay. Criticism from IGN was focused on the dialogue being repetitive and the game lacking depth. IGN gave it a 7 overall rating.[4] Meanwhile, GameRankings gave the Xbox and GameCube versions a 53.67%[5] and a 59.75%[6] respectively. Review aggregator Metacritic was mixed toward this game with the PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions getting a 59 out of 100[7] and a 57 out of 100[8] respectively. Lights, Camera, Pants! was generally viewed as one of the better SpongeBob video games.

Trivia
General
- All versions of this game have backwards compatibility.
- The PlayStation 2 version can be played on old PlayStation 3 units.
- The GameCube version can be played on older Wii units.
- The Xbox version can be played on all Xbox 360 units.
- The gameplay aspect and the mini-game format were possibly influenced by the famed Mario Party titles, due to their similar functions and mechanics.
- This was the second video game to be developed by THQ Studio Australia. The first was The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius: Attack of the Twonkies.
- Lights, Camera, Pants! was even composed by The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius's composer Charlie Brissette.
- The art work for both Beware the Hooks and SpongeBob SquarePants Has Hit Rock Bottom was also used for the cover of the two digital media with the same name.
- The title of this video game is a parody of the phrase "Lights, Camera, ACTION!"
- SpongeBob is shown riding a unicycle, but in the console versions of the game, when he is a police officer, he rides a normal bicycle instead of his unicycle, but the colors are the same.
- This is Bubble Bass' third appearance in a video game. The first was Legend of the Lost Spatula, and the second was Nicktoons Freeze Frame Frenzy.
- The camp tent is also seen in "Arrgh!"
- This was the last SpongeBob SquarePants video game released for the Xbox.
- This is also the only non crossover SpongeBob video game on the Xbox to not be developed by Heavy Iron Studios.
- In the beginning scene of the featured "Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy episode," where the duo is watching the musical performance, the narrator of the episode says, "Amongst them are Bikini Bottom's finest crime fighters, and also...these guys (referring to Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy)."
- This could be a reference to the beginning scene of "Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy IV," when the French Narrator says, "Through these doors pass all the many kinds of undersea life...and also these guys (referring to Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy)."
- The cover art is different outside the U.S., featuring all of the main characters getting prepared for the movie.
- This is the only time Don the Whale becomes a prison guard.
- The Sneaky Hermit's wedding photo features the Hermit as the bride when the role is given to either SpongeBob, Patrick, or Sandy; and as the groom when it's Squidward, Mr. Krabs, and Plankton.
- In comparison, SpongeBob's movie is different than the others.
- The theme used for the minigame "The Bouncers" is a remake of a theme by the same composer from another video game 3-D Body Adventure. The original can be heard here.
- There is a cheat code (977548) that can be activated to unlock a special feature.
- There is a coloring error in the game with Squidward and Plankton wherein some mini-games ("Charge!" and "Inflatable Pants" being notable examples), Plankton will have blue and Squidward will have green. Plankton may also sometimes have gray, although this is probably because of his robot.
- The gameplay is the same on all three consoles, but the controls are different in each version.
- As of this video game, Man Ray is now voiced by Bob Joles. He was previously voiced by John Rhys-Davies in the episodes "Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy III" and "Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy V," both of which had premiered before this video game was released in October 2005 in North America and Europe.
- This marks the only time that the Dirty Bubble is voiced by Charles Nelson Reilly in a video game before his death in 2007.
- This is the third appearance of inflatable pants. The first was in "Patty Hype" and the second was in "The Sponge Who Could Fly."
- The "Rock Bottom" mini-game can give different characters a different max score.
- Squidward's has the lowest max score (1,000), Sandy has the highest max score (1,036), and everyone else has a max score of 1,003.
- There is a way to get all of the cross save rewards (only in the PlayStation 2 version) without owning the other three games (Tak: The Great Juju Challenge, Nicktoons Unite!, and Barnyard), this is done by entering the cheat code 2229074466, which unlocks everything.
- In some concept art found in the PlayStation's 2 cross save, it shows that Monty P. Moneybags may have had Gill Hammerstein's role, before getting replaced.
- If that were the case, this could have been Monty P. Moneybags' first, and only, appearance in a video game.
- In concept art it shows the "Rock, Paper, Scissors" mini-game didn't use bubbles, instead it was a newspaper, a normal rock, and a pair of tongs.
- Because of the use of tongs, in concept art, the mini-game may have been called "Rock, Paper, Tongs."
- In concept art for the "Rock Bottom" mini-game, it shows that SpongeBob may have played a saxophone.
- This and Creature from the Krusty Krab are the only SpongeBob video games to be dubbed into Swedish.
Episode references
- When SpongeBob goes to the Mermalair, he can be heard saying Bad Word #11.
- Whenever SpongeBob wins an audition, one of his phrases is "Go self!" This phrase is heard in the pilot episode "Help Wanted."
- Patrick's third-place image is the same as when he is grumpy in "Valentine's Day."
Errors
- In the lookout scene, if Sandy is the lookout, Mermaid Man will call Sandy a sea creature instead of a land creature.
- In this video game, the Krusty Krab has waiters. However, the Krusty Krab is not that kind of restaurant, as it is an undersea fast-food restaurant.
- Although, it is possible that the Krusty Krab was temporarily set up like this for the "filming" of the MM and BB episode.
- And on top of that, the Krusty Krab did have waiters before in such episodes as "Squilliam Returns" and "Enemy In-Law."
- Although, it is possible that the Krusty Krab was temporarily set up like this for the "filming" of the MM and BB episode.
- In the official list of backward compatible Xbox games for the Xbox 360, "SpongeBob" is mistakenly spelled as "Sponge Bob." The other SpongeBob games on the list don't have this same mistake.
- In the credits, Rodger Bumpass is misspelled as Roger Bumpass and Joe Alaskey is misspelled as Jow Alaskey.
- In the Gold and silver versions of the Cosmo & Wanda action figures Cosmo doesn't have a unique face, instead, they reused Timmy Turner's face.
- In the minigame "Breakin' Out" Squidward's eyelids are shown black instead of PMS 333 color.
- In the minigame "Beats Me," when Squilliam says, "1, 2, 3," his voice sounds like Squidward's.
- A similar error occurs in the video games Creature from the Krusty Krab and SpongeBob SquarePants featuring Nicktoons: Globs of Doom.
- In the minigame "Rubble Rabble" when Patrick or Plankton hits a green dust boulder, their voice clips are swapped.
