History
The dub began airing on Nicktoons Africa on July 14, 2022 at 2:30 PM with "Jellyfishing" and "Plankton!" in celebration of SpongeBob's 36th birthday and to teach Zulu, which is one of the native languages of South Africa. After good reception, the dub started its full run on December 5, 2022 with the 11th season, airing every weekday at 3 PM.[2]

Trivia
- This is the first (and currently only) African language dub of SpongeBob SquarePants. And it's also the first and only Nickelodeon TV series to be dubbed into an African language other than Arabic.
- On Nickelodeon Africa's Facebook upload of "Jellyfishing" and "Plankton!", both the low-pitched audio track and the original NTSC audio track are played at the same time. This did not happen when the episode aired on Nicktoons Africa, where it was aired with the NTSC audio track.[3]
- SpongeBob wears a Zulu outfit in a dub promo.
