Template:Series Bob Esponja is the European Spanish dub of SpongeBob SquarePants. It airs in Spain. It is part of Template:ISS.
History
The series arrived to terrestrial television on Antena 3. TVE got the terrestrial television rights to the show in 2009 where it became a hit on their children's channel, Clan TVE. As of 2020, SpongeBob is featured in some way in the cover of the channel's monthly magazine.
The series briefly aired on Cuatro in 2011 only broadcasting season 1, its stay on the channel was famous for its exaggerated promotion.
Nickelodeon Iberia feed only airs later seasons (starting from season 6 to though at one stage in October 2020 they aired season 5), Clan TVE still airs older seasons. Nickelodeon also skips a few specials like "Truth or Square" and "The Clash of Triton" from the older seasons and doesn't air "Christmas Who?," said episode aired on Clan TVE in Christmas 2020.
On both Clan TVE and Nickelodeon, the series is broadcast with two audio tracks, Spanish and English, on "DUAL" (SAP).
As of December 2020, both Nickelodeon is on and Clan TVE are on Template:Data:Links.
On MTV Spain they throw it out sometimes.

Trivia
General
- Squidward's Spanish name, Calamardo, is based on "calamari," a type of squid. The Spanish word for squid is also calamar.
- In season 1, Template:Data:Links' name was often "Don Cangrejo."
- This confused the dub with the Latin American one, so it was changed to "Sr. Cangrejo".
- Template:Data:Links's name changes throughout the episodes:
- In "Band Geeks," his first name was "Squiliam," a translated pronunciation of his English name. His last name was kept the same as in English.
- In "Squilliam Returns," his name is "Guimardo" (A mix of the name "Guillermo" and "Calamardo")
- In "Professor Squidward," his name is "Calamarón el Guay III" (Squilliam the Cool Guy III, "-ón" being a suffix for big objects),
- In "House Fancy," his name is "Calamardi Elegantínez" (Elegantínez coming from "elegante" (fancy), and "-ez", a common suffix of Spanish last names that is the equivalent of the "-son" suffix of English last names.)
- In "Keep Bikini Bottom Beautiful" and "I ♥ Dancing," his name is "Calamarino" (from "calamar" (squid) and "-ino," a Spanish suffix for small objects)
- Lastly, in "Back to the Past," he was mistaken for Squidward by the dubbing crew and was also called "Calamardo." He even had the same voice actor.
- There are three versions of the intro's lyrics: the first one was used from the first to the second season, the second one was used from the third season onwards and the third one was used in the first movie.
- Between "Goo Goo Gas" and "Choir Boys," Squidward voice sound different than other episodes. This is possibly due to Alberto Closas Jr., who voices Squidward in Spain, went to a vacation. Until then, he was voiced by Miguel Campos.
- Alex Saudinós, SpongeBob's voice in this dub, once defended the entire series because of a now-a-days defunct studio saying that Spongebob could lead to attention deficit in younger viewers. [1]
- Note: the page and audio in the page are in Spanish. Spanish knowledge is required..
- Due to text not being translated directly in the animation, it is read translated by the narrator.
- In "Truth or Square" (the TV special), the songs are in english instead of spanish.
- The lyrics are translated, thought, but they are in text subtitles.
- RandomLand is called in this dub SinRumboLandia, which translated literally to english is ''NoCourseLand''.
- This dub does not have any censure. All episodes are dubed and are aired.
- For a time, the Clan TVE website did not have a Spongebob space, nor any other Nickelodeon cartoon. Now-a-days, the space exists in the website.
- Squidward's voice is different in some specials.
Errors
- Bikini Bottom (Fondo de Bikini) was accidentally called by its original name in "The Ballad of Filthy Muck," when the narrator said "Parque de Bikini Bottom," when it should be "Parque de Fondo de Bikini" (Bikini Bottom Park). He said it half spanish, half english, which is ironic.
- In "Back to the Past," Squilliam was confused for Squidward by the dubbing crew. He even had the same voice actor.
- In Clan TVE, the episodes air one year later after its release (for example, a 2019 episode airs in Clan TVE in 2020 or when the season it belongs to is finished.
