The series arrived to terrestrial television on Antena 3. TVE got the terrestrial television rights to the show in 2009 where it became a hit on their children's channel, Clan TVE. As of 2020, SpongeBob is featured in some way in the cover of the channel's monthly magazine.
In MTV Spain the series began to be broadcasted in 2004 by a block of animation of that time, this is known by the programming of that time, there are no photos of Spongebob Series in MTV Spain but if you have a promo of his movie, the series was also issued in 2018 on January 28, in that year nine chapters were issued being these seasons 1, 2 and 5.
There is not much information about the broadcast on Neox, it is believed that it was aired in 2008-2010 but it is not a sure date. It is believed that it was not issued more than season 3, there is only a video of the chapter Something Smells about the story that Patrick tells SpongeBob. It was not aired in the Neox Kidz programming block unlike other Nickelodeon series, it was aired in the Guasanga block with other Nickelodeon series such as Drake and Josh. There is very little information about the airing of the series on this channel.
The series briefly aired on Cuatro in 2011 only broadcasting season 1, its stay on the channel was famous for its exaggerated promotion.
The RTVE television channel La 1, broadcast SpongeBob SquarePants (series) between 2010 and 2013, because the channel Clan TVE of the same company did not have the desired audience, so they started a block in the channel's programming with animated series from Nickelodeon such as, The Penguins of Madagascar and SpongeBob SquarePants (series). In RTVE's web they published chapters broadcasted of seasons five and six, but it is not known if they broadcasted chapters of previous seasons.
Nickelodeon Iberia feed only airs later seasons (starting from season 6 to though at one stage in October 2020 they aired season 5), Clan TVE still airs older seasons. Nickelodeon also skips a few specials like "Truth or Square" and "The Clash of Triton" from the older seasons and doesn't air "Christmas Who?," said episode aired on Clan TVE in Christmas 2020.
On both Clan TVE and Nickelodeon, the series is broadcast with two audio tracks, Spanish and English, on "DUAL" (SAP).
As of December 2020, both Nickelodeon and Clan TVE are on season 12.
Mermaid Man's voice is different in "Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy II."
Squidward's Spanish name, Calamardo, is based on "calamari," a type of squid and the name Eduardo (Edward). The Spanish word for squid is also calamar.
In "Band Geeks," his first name was "Squiliam," a translated pronunciation of his English name. His last name was kept the same as in English.
In "Squilliam Returns," his name is "Guimardo" (A mix of the name "Guillermo" and "Calamardo")
In "Professor Squidward," his name is "Calamarón el Guay III" (Squilliam the Cool Guy III, "-ón" being a suffix for big objects),
In "House Fancy," his name is "Calamardi Elegantínez" (Elegantínez coming from "elegante" (fancy), and "-ez," a common suffix of Spanish last names that is the equivalent of the "-son" suffix of English last names.)
Lastly, in "Back to the Past," he was mistaken for Squidward by the dubbing crew and was also called "Calamardo." He even had the same voice actor.
There are three versions of the intro's lyrics: the first one was used from the first to the second season, the second one was used from the third season onwards and the third one was used in the first movie.
In "Plankton Retires," the Krusty Krab (Krustáceo Krujiente) was called Kangrejo Krujiente when Perch Perkins (Perca Perkins) is asking Plankton.
The Spanish Tide and Seek DVD includes partially redubbed versions of each episode where every character but SpongeBob is referred to by their English name instead of their Spanish name.[1]
Between "Goo Goo Gas" and "Choir Boys," Squidward voice sound different than other episodes. This is possibly due to Alberto Closas Jr., who voices Squidward in Spain, went to a vacation. Until then, he was voiced by Miguel Campos.
Alex Saudinós, SpongeBob's voice in this dub, once defended the entire series against a now defunct studio which stated that SpongeBob could lead to attention deficit in younger viewers. [2]

The title cards aren't edited with their respective language as in other places. Instead, the translated episode title is read by a narrator.
The version of Truth or Square used is the 44 minute version and the name "Stuck in the Freezer" is used for the chapter instead of Truth or Square
In Clan TVE, in the second part of Truth or Square the part of Patchy's extravagancia is used again, after this comes the title card and patchy riding on his boat looking for Bikini Atoll.

RandomLand is called in this dub SinRumboLandia, which translated literally to English is ''NoCourseLand''.
This dub does not have any censorship. All episodes are dubbed and are aired.
However, in SpongeBob in RandomLand, the U.S censorship for the infamous Red Mist reference is used, but with the Red Mist audio.
The episode "Pat the Horse" was translated to "¡Arre, Patricio!," which means "Giddy up, Patrick!"
For a long time, the Clan TVE website did not have a SpongeBob section, nor for any other Nickelodeon cartoon. Nowadays, there does exist a section for SpongeBob in the website.
In Rodeo Daze, Plankton is dubbed by Alberto Closas Jr., the voice of Squidward. Possibly because Juan Rueda, his original voice, was sick or had something important to attend the day of the recording.
In What Ever Happened to SpongeBob?, the theme song it is not changed to Whobob Whatpants, but remains the same as the normal theme song
In The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, to the Chum Bucket they don't call it ''Cubo de Cebo'', they call it ''Cubo Amigo'' which in English literally translated would be ''Friendly Cube''.
In "Ripped Pants," Larry calls Sandy by her original name instead of Arenita at the beginning.
Something similar happens in "Hall Monitor," when Patrick says he saw the maniac, SpongeBob calls Patrick by his original name instead of Patricio.
Bikini Bottom (Fondo de Bikini) was accidentally called by its original name in "The Ballad of Filthy Muck," when the narrator said "Parque de Bikini Bottom," when it should be "Parque de Fondo de Bikini" (Bikini Bottom Park). He said it half spanish, half english, which is ironic.
In "Back to the Past," Squilliam was confused for Squidward by the dubbing crew. He even had the same voice actor, Alberto Closas Jr.
In Clan TVE, the episodes air one year later after its release (for example, a 2019 episode airs in Clan TVE in 2020 or when the season it belongs to is finished.
In "Pizza Delivery," when SpongeBob says ''That lucky is going to have the first Krabby Patty pizza ever' he says: ''Ese cliente afortunado va a llevarse la primera cangreburger'' (''That lucky customer is going to carry off/take the first Krabby Patty'') when he should have said something like ''Ese cliente afortunado va a llevarse la primera cangrepizza'' (''That lucky customer is going to carry off/take the first Krabby Pizza'').
